Job summary

Dallas City Hall is seeking an Environmental Specialist II to inspect, investigate, and ensure compliance with environmental laws for city services and utilities. This role conducts complex evaluations, manages spills, and prepares reports for the Environmental Compliance Committee.

Responsibilities include overseeing spill cleanups, inspecting facilities, and communicating findings to stakeholders. Availability for varied shifts and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High School or GED required.
• Three (3) years of hands-on environmental inspection experience including hazardous materials, spill response or sample collection.
• Equivalency: associate degree + 1 year experience or bachelor’s degree in relevant field meets requirements.
• Must pass background check and possess valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs complex environmental evaluation, inspection, and review of City services and utilities; investigates complaints and files compliance reports.
• Oversees spills cleanups and investigates causes to prevent recurrence; files incident reports.
• Inspects City facilities for environmental compliance; reviews waste storage, water facilities, and stormwater management.
• Drafts and files extensive inspection reports; documents non-compliance and incidents; informs decision makers.
• Understands environmental policies to ensure compliance and provides training to staff.
• Assists with hazardous spills; participates in emergency situations and supports Environmental Compliance Committee.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
