Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. seeks an Environmental Specialist II or Environmental Scientist II or Environmental Engineer II to support projects at the Safford operation.

The role involves monitoring, data analysis, risk reduction, and regulatory compliance under close supervision. You will install, operate and maintain monitoring instruments, review data, coordinate audits, and collaborate with project teams and vendors to ensure conformance with local and federal requirements.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Environmental Science or related area; five years min mining/processing experience can substitute.
• Seven years in environmental monitoring, sampling and reporting or closely related role.
• Engineering degree with environmental experience or higher; certifications preferred (HAZWOPER, CHMM, etc.).
• Knowledge of water quality, project management and regulatory requirements is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment.
• Analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Evaluates environmental risk and develops risk-reduction programs.
• Leads audits and coordinates with vendors and management on compliance.
