Job summary

Santa Rosa County is seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to ensure adherence to FDEP/EPA guidelines across solid waste facilities, groundwater programs and air emissions initiatives. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Biology, Engineering or a related field.
• Two years of progressively responsible experience with environmental monitoring programs.
• Experience with Florida groundwater, stormwater and surface-water rules, regulations, permitting and procedures is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field investigations to verify regulatory compliance and conduct stormwater inspections and testing after rainfalls.
• Maintain groundwater monitoring program and other environmental monitoring programs to detect contamination.
• Maintain landfill gas collection system inspection and tuning for continuous operation of landfill gas flaring.
• Review disposal of contaminated soils and special wastes.
• Coordinate activities with county environmental programs and provide assistance involving hazardous materials and HHW operations.
• Represent County interests to regulatory entities concerning groundwater, stormwater, air emissions, and solid waste compliance and permitting.
• Interact with the public in a professional manner.
