Job summary

Atlas is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to join our Redmond, WA team. The role focuses on delivering environmental compliance services during design and construction for complex transportation and infrastructure projects, with emphasis on Sound Transit and/or WSDOT.

You will work with construction management teams, regulators, and contractors to proactively manage environmental risk, ensure permit compliance, and support project schedules with field-ready solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biology, ecology, natural resources, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in construction-phase environmental compliance, preferably on WSDOT and/or Sound Transit transportation projects.
• Demonstrated experience supporting heavy-civil, rail, roadway, bridge, and transit construction in Washington State.
• Relevant certifications such as CPESC, PWS, or similar preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support environmental compliance programs for Sound Transit, WSDOT, and local agency transportation projects.
• Interpret and implement environmental permits, approvals, and commitments for complex capital projects.
• Serve as an environmental point of contact during construction, coordinating with Sound Transit and WSDOT staff, contractors, inspectors, and regulators.
• Support Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs), permit compliance matrices, and environmental commitment tracking systems.
• Conduct construction site inspections, environmental compliance monitoring, and environmental training for contractor and field staff.
• Support design-build and progressive design-build delivery by identifying environmental risks early and advising construction teams.
• Prepare compliance documentation, inspection reports, corrective action plans, and agency correspondence.
• Support coordination with regulatory agencies during construction.
• Mentor junior environmental compliance staff and support field team development.
• Contribute to QA/QC processes and continuous improvement of environmental compliance workflows.
