Job summary

Heidelberg Materials North America is seeking an environmental compliance professional to manage permits, records, and regulatory reporting across cement plant and quarry operations. The role involves field inspections, sampling, and coordinating corrective actions with operations, maintenance, and safety teams.

Based at the Union Bridge, MD cement plant, with travel to New Windsor quarry; strong regulatory knowledge and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Experience in an environmental compliance role in heavy industry (manufacturing, mining, cement).
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting, and reporting processes.
• Experience with air permitting or emissions compliance preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and with teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage environmental compliance programs, permits, records, and regulatory reporting.
• Monitor environmental performance and support air, water, waste, and spill prevention.
• Conduct field inspections, audits, sampling, and compliance assessments across plant and quarry ops.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, engineering, and safety teams to implement corrective actions.
• Support regulatory inspections, agency communications, permitting, and environmental aspects of capital projects.
