Job summary

Heidelberg Materials is seeking an Environmental Professional to support environmental compliance and permitting activities for the Union Bridge cement plant and New Windsor quarry, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations while partnering with operations to promote responsible and sustainable manufacturing practices.

You will manage environmental permits, records, and regulatory reports, monitor performance, conduct field inspections and audits, and collaborate with operations,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in an environmental compliance role within a manufacturing, industrial, mining, aggregates, cement, or similar heavy industry environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting requirements, and regulatory reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting air permitting, emissions compliance, or other environmental permitting programs preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Support regulatory inspections, agency communications, permitting efforts, and environmental aspects of capital projects and operational changes.

Position Overview

The Environmental Professional supports environmental compliance and permitting activities for the Union Bridge cement plant and New Windsor quarry, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations while partnering with operations to promote responsible and sustainable manufacturing practices.

What You'll Be Doing

What We Are Looking For

Work Environment
  • Based at our Union Bridge, Maryland cement plant with responsibility supporting both the plant and New Windsor quarry operations.
  • Combination of office and field work in an active heavy industrial environment.
  • Regular plant, quarry, and conveyor system inspections are required.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around moving equipment.
  • Occasional travel for training, regulatory meetings, or business needs may be required.
