Job summary

The State of Arizona's Department of Transportation in Flagstaff seeks an Environmental Engineering Specialist to oversee the Northcentral District environmental compliance program, monitoring projects for compliance with air, water, hazardous waste, natural resources, wildlife and other rules.

Under supervision of a registered professional engineer, you will coordinate environmental clearances and maintenance work orders across the district.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of federal and state environmental laws, regulations, policies and processes.
• Experience in environmental management and process improvement.
• Environmental compliance requirements for a transportation agency.

Responsibilities

• Oversee environmental compliance for the NC District and track SWPPP and FPPP requirements.
• Coordinate environmental clearances on construction, maintenance, encroachment permits and facilities.
• Assist with training and emergency response as needed.
• Serve as district environmental SME for interpretation of regulations.
