Job summary

Big West Oil in North Salt Lake, UT is seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer to lead key environmental programs focused on regulatory accuracy, safe operations, and continuous improvement. You will provide technical leadership across RCRA, SPCC, TSCA, and related programs.

The role requires collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and ESH teams, plus coordination of inspections and reporting with regulatory agencies. This position offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field.
• At least 3 years of environmental compliance experience in refining, petrochemical, manufacturing or regulated operations.
• Knowledge of RCRA, Clean Water Act programs, UPDES, SWPPP, SPCC, TSCA, remediation programs, and air regulations.
• Ability to lead environmental compliance programs and manage multiple priorities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, investigation, and technical writing skills.
• Experience developing procedures, training materials, compliance systems, and metrics.
• Ability to interpret environmental data, identify trends, and drive improvements.
• Direct contractor and service provider oversight including scope, data and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Lead environmental compliance programs and ensure regulatory and permit requirements are met.
• Develop strategies, monitoring plans, procedures, and tools to support program execution and long-term compliance.
• Provide technical guidance to Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and ESH personnel.
• Coordinate environmental inspections, audits, reporting, and agency interactions.
• Direct contractor and environmental service provider activities, including review of data and recommendations.
• Analyze environmental data and trends to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead investigations of incidents, permit deviations, and compliance events with root-cause analysis.
• Prepare regulatory reports, permit applications, and environmental documentation.
• Develop and deliver environmental training to strengthen understanding and responsibilities.
