Job summary

APEL Extrusions, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking an Environmental Compliance Engineer to oversee the daily compliance program and support EHS activities. The role ensures permits are maintained and environmental data is accurately recorded for painting and anodizing operations.

The Environmental Engineer will coordinate audits, training, and regulatory reporting, reporting directly to the EHS and Security Manager. This position supports safety and efficiency initiatives across the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or 5+ years environmental compliance in manufacturing.
• Experience managing environmental permits, compliance reporting, and inspections.
• Experience with Air Permitting and Air Quality Compliance.
• Experience with Wastewater Pretreatment (SWPPP) and Hazardous Waste (RCRA).
• Ability to interpret regulations and apply requirements in manufacturing.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and environmental recordkeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all environmental permits (Air, SWPPP, Hazardous Waste, Wastewater).
• Monitor facility compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain environmental records and reporting.
• Coordinate sampling and lab testing.
• Oversee wastewater treatment system compliance.
• Develop and maintain Environmental Compliance Matrix and Calendar.
• Prepare monthly compliance reports to plant leadership.
• Deliver required environmental training.
• Identify projects to improve compliance and reduce costs.
