Job summary

APEL Extrusions, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ seeks an Environmental Compliance Engineer to oversee daily environmental compliance and EHS activities at the plant.

You will manage permits (air, wastewater, hazardous waste, stormwater), maintain records, coordinate inspections, and train staff, reporting to the EHS and Security Manager.

Candidates should have a bachelor's in a related field or 5 years in manufacturing, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, EHS, Chemical Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related technical field preferred.
• A minimum of five (5) years of environmental compliance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• Experience managing environmental permits, compliance reporting, and regulatory inspections.
• Experience with Air Permitting and Air Quality Compliance.
• Experience with Wastewater Pretreatment Programs.
• Experience with Hazardous Waste Management (RCRA).
• Experience with Stormwater Compliance (SWPPP).
• Experience with EPCRA/SARA reporting preferred.
• Experience interacting with regulatory agencies, consultants, and vendors.
• Ability to interpret environmental regulations and apply compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, data analysis tools, and environmental recordkeeping systems.

Responsibilities

• Maintain required environmental records, documentation, and compliance reporting.
• Perform environmental compliance sampling and coordinate laboratory testing and analysis.
• Monitor wastewater treatment systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage the facility's waste management and recycling programs.
• Conduct environmental regulatory compliance audits and inspections.
• Prepare and present monthly environmental compliance reports to plant leadership.
• Develop and maintain the Environmental Compliance Matrix and Calendar.
• Support environmental incident investigations, corrective actions, and regulatory reporting.
• Develop and deliver required environmental compliance training.
• Identify and implement projects that improve compliance, reduce environmental impacts, increase efficiency, and reduce costs.

Job Summary

The Environmental Engineer will oversee the daily execution of the environmental compliance program at APEL Extrusions, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ. This position supports Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) activities focused on reducing risk, preventing incidents, and ensuring compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental regulations and internal standards.

The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for maintaining compliance with environmental permits, including air, hazardous waste, stormwater, and wastewater permits. The position will maintain environmental data, process information, and compliance records associated with the facility's anodizing and painting operations.

This position reports directly to the EHS and Security Manager.
