Job summary

Weston & Sampson in Reading, MA is seeking a Civil/Environmental Project Engineer or Project Manager with 5–10 years of experience to join our growing team. The role involves leading environmental and civil engineering studies for a diverse portfolio, preparing reports and design plans, and mentoring junior staff.

You will supervise project teams, manage scope, schedule, and budget, and engage in client relations and proposals. PE is a plus but not required; valid driver's license is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or related field.
• PE certification preferred but not required.
• 5 to 10 years of experience.
• Experience in the environmental engineering field with a focus on projects located in MA.
• Experience overseeing various field services (e.g., construction oversight, site assessments, underground storage tank removal, building and utility investigations).
• Be familiar with MassDEP / MCP regulations pertaining to site assessment, remediation, permitting, tank compliance, and solid waste facilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering reports and plans including sampling and analysis plans, environmental assessment reports, MCP reports, and compliance filings.
• Prepare engineering design plans, details, and technical specifications for contract bidding purposes.
• Supervise and lead project teams to perform environmental and engineering studies and designs.
• Develop and define project scope, schedule, and fee; prepare contracts; manage staffing and sub-consultants; track budget and invoicing.
• Supervise, train, and mentor junior engineering staff.
• Support pursuit of new work opportunities through client relationships, proposals, and interviews.
• Participate in professional organizations and technical committees.
