Job summary

Florida Department of Environmental Protection in Tallahassee seeks a Chemist II to analyze environmental samples for nutrients and inorganic anions, supporting water quality assessments and restoration projects. The role operates in the Chemistry Program, Nutrients section, and contributes to statewide environmental data reporting.

The incumbent will perform laboratory testing, maintain instrumentation, and ensure data is accurately reported per regulations.

Qualifications

• Five+ years of verifiable experience in chemistry or related sciences.
• Credential evaluation report for foreign degrees submitted with application.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and report data.
• Position includes Medical Monitoring Program participation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze environmental samples for nutrients, inorganic anions and related compounds.
• Report data in compliance with applicable rules.
• Maintain and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation.
• Work a 9 am – 6 pm, 40-hour week, and occasional after-hours as needed.
