Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in Tallahassee seeks an Environmental Specialist II to support the Sample Analysis section. The role analyzes fertilizer and related environmental samples using GC, ICP, ICP-MS, and LC, interprets data, and prepares reports for bureau programs.

Responsibilities include QA/QC adherence, instrument maintenance, and occasional travel to seminars or conferences to maintain technical proficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year in environmental protection, regulation, health, or related science.
• Or 6 months as Environmental Specialist I or higher with the State of Florida.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Analyze fertilizer and other environmental samples using GC, ICP, ICPMS, and LC.
• Interpret data and prepare final laboratory reports for programs.
• Follow QA/QC procedures and review data for accuracy and completeness.
• Maintain instrumentation with routine preventive maintenance and part inventory.
• Periodically travel to seminars, workshops, and conferences.
