Job summary

The Vertex Companies, LLC is seeking an Assistant Project Manager in Irvine, CA to support the supervisor with Phase I ESAs, PCAs, energy-use assessments, and field inspections for timely, high-quality reports. The role emphasizes teamwork, project coordination, and adherence to project budgets and schedules.

This position requires travel across the country as needed, strong English communication, and proficiency with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or 5 years of related work experience and no degree.
• Phase I ESAs and PCAs following ASTM guidelines
• Experience with assessment, remediation and compliance with regulatory programs in California
• OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 certification
• HAZWOPER 40 Hour certification
• AHERA (Asbestos) certifications, preferred, not required
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English
• Strong technical report writing skills in English
• Ability/willingness for frequent travel for field work (valid driver’s license required)
• Working proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Ability to walk job sites during inspections and carry field testing equipment

Responsibilities

• Conduct and manage Phase I ESAs, PCAs, and energy usage assessments including field inspections and report writing.
• Perform subsurface investigations, remediation work, and other project assignments as appropriate.
• Ensure that project deliverables, milestones, and budgets are met.
• Coordinate with senior managers to meet milestones and budgets.
• Prepare, review, and submit final reports in accordance with regulations and QC standards.
• Travel within California; regular travel throughout the country may be required.
• Support supervisor in monitoring utilization and contributing to budget goals.
• Coordinate with team members to ensure high-quality work product and timely timesheets.
• Support OKRs and cross-functional collaboration.
• Travel as necessary to support client needs.
