Job summary

Olsson is seeking an Assistant Engineer for the Rail Track Team in the United States. You’ll assist with railway track and civil design, support project execution, and perform quality control reviews under supervision.

You will gain experience in design software, be mentored by senior staff, and may travel to project sites. This role requires a Bachelor’s in civil engineering and EI certification or progress toward it.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering required and EI certification pursued or obtained.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills needed.
• Ability to diligently research applicable requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assists with project design elements for engineering projects using standard techniques.
• Performs entry-level plan production with clearly defined instructions.
• Gains knowledge in design and modeling software.
• Receives guidance from senior staff on schedules and calculations.
• Contributes to portions of broader projects under supervision.
• Gathers and prepares research for technical reports.
• Mentors student interns and answers routine questions.
• May travel to project sites in varying terrains and weather.
