Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX seeks an entry-level assist craftsperson to read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping under supervision. You’ll support skilled trades in a hands-on, learning-focused role.

Responsibilities include aligning, bolting, and securing components, assembling pipes, laying out equipment, and assisting with hydro testing. Candidates should be able to work outdoors in all weather, climb and work at heights, and follow safety rules.

Qualifications

• Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Field experience in chosen craft discipline is a plus.
• Knowledge of safe use of hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Learn to read isometric drawings, take measurements, fabricate and install piping efficiently.
• Assist skilled craftsman to align, bolt, and clamp components for welding.
• Assist with assembly and securing of pipes, tubes, fittings and related equipment.
• Position and secure materials during installation and follow plans and specs.
• Learn to distinguish metal thickness and types; handle rigging equipment.
• Operate beveling machines, grinders, hammers, torches, drills, and SawZall.
• Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe and supports.
• Assist with hydro testing piping systems.
