Job summary

The Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation (DETR) in Reno seeks a Workforce Services Representative 1 to provide reemployment and eligibility assessment services to unemployment claimants. Duties include helping with resumes, job search planning, and referrals to community programs.

Under supervision, progress to the next level (Workforce Services Representative 2) after meeting qualifications and approval.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; two years of general work experience, or an equivalent combination.
• Interview customers to elicit information on education, training, and goals; assist with registration and searching job listings.
• Assist customers in using the resource center’s equipment to search for employment and prepare resumes/cover letters.

Responsibilities

• Interview customers to gather education, training, and occupational goals.
• Assist customers in registering for services and searching job listings.
• Guide customers in using computers to search jobs, access career information, and prepare application materials.
• Provide information and referrals to programs and community resources.
• Conduct orientation sessions about available services and programs.
