Job summary

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training, and Rehabilitation (DETR) is seeking a Workforce Services Representative 1 – DVOP Specialist to serve the Elko area. The role supports veterans with individualized career services, assessments, IEPs, and active caseload management, connecting participants with employment, training, and services across programs.

In addition to DVOP duties, the incumbent provides general employment services to all veterans and eligible persons as part of the Veterans

Qualifications

Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, vocabulary and composition.
Experience with customer service techniques.
Familiarity with office procedures and data entry.
Ability to use telephone etiquette and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

Interview customers to elicit information regarding education, training, work experience, and goals.
Assist customers to register for services and search job listings.
Screen job seekers to ensure education and experience meet job order specifications; refer qualified customers to businesses.
Provide information and referrals to programs available in the community; identify eligible veterans for available services.
Assist customers to use the resource center’s equipment to search for employment, prepare resumes and cover letters.
Advise job seekers on assessment results and career direction options; coach applicants on applications and interviews.
Conduct orientation sessions to inform customers of programs and services.
Perform related duties as assigned.
