Job summary

Dearing Compressor is seeking a skilled welder to lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair industrial guards for compressor packages. You will read blueprints, select materials, and operate fabrication equipment to produce precise guards in a fast-paced shop environment.

The role requires the ability to pass a weld test, stand for long periods, lift heavy parts, and work as part of a team. Drug testing is required for employment.

Qualifications

• One-year certificate or related experience or training in welding/fabrication.
• Familiar with MIG and TIG welding, metal fabrication, grinding and finishing.
• Ability to stand, crouch, and lift heavy equipment.
• Ability to pass a weld test.
• Ability to read blueprints and perform simple math.
• Ability to read a tape measure.
• Team player and reliable.
• Must pass a drug test.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, sketches, or specifications to determine fabricating, assembling, and installing guards of aluminum or sheet metal.
• Select material gauge and type per product specifications.
• Lay out and mark dimensions on material and trace patterns or use templates.
• Set up and operate fabricating machines (shears, etc.) to cut, bend, form, or straighten materials.
• Weld components and bolt together larger guards.
• Install assemblies on compressor packages per blueprints.
• Inspect assemblies and installations for conformance to blueprints and specs.

Job description

A welder at Dearing Compressorplans, lays out, fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs industrial guards for compressor packages by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Reads and interprets blueprints, sketches, or product specifications to determine sequence and methods of fabricating, assembling, and installing guards constructed of aluminum or sheet metal.
• Selects gauge and type of material, according to product specifications.
• Lays out and marks dimensions and reference lines on material to develop and trace patterns of product or parts, or uses templates.
• Sets up and operates fabricating machines such as shears to cut, bend, block and form, or straighten materials.
• Trims, files, grinds, deburrs, buffs, and smooths surfaces.
• Welds component parts to assemble products. Uses bolts to assemble larger guards made up of multiple pieces.
• Installs assemblies on compressor packages according to blueprints.
• Inspects assemblies and installation for conformance to blueprints and specifications.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school or related experience and training
• Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG welding TIG welding, metal fabricating, grinding, and finishing metals
• Ability to stand, crouch, and occasionally lift heavy equipment
• Ability to pass a weld test
• Ability to read blue prints and use simple math skills
• Ability to read and interpreta tape measure
• Must be able to work as a team
• Must pass a drug test
