Job summary

Dearing Compressor is seeking an entry-level Assembly Technician for the 1st shift to build, assemble, and package industrial compressor equipment across production areas. This role provides hands-on training with opportunities to develop skills and cross-train with other teams.

You will operate production equipment and read blueprints, while maintaining a clean, safe workspace. Strong teamwork and reliability are valued as you support ongoing manufacturing operations in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of manufacturing or mechanical trades experience.
• Basic mechanical aptitude; read blueprints and use tape measure.
• Proficient with hand and power tools; must provide personal tool set.
• Reliable, team-focused with good attendance.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in non-climate-controlled settings.
• Willing to work overtime and weekends.
• Pass a background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble, and package components and units for shipment.

The 1st shift Assembly Technician is an entry-level position focused on building, assembling, and packaging industrial compressor equipment across various production areas. This role offers hands-on training with opportunities for skill development and cross training.

Qualifications & Skills

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 1+ years of experience in manufacturing, construction, or mechanical trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC); steel or fabrication experience is a plus.
• Basic mechanical aptitude, including the ability to read blueprints, use simple math, and take accurate tape measure readings.
• Proficiency with standard hand and power tools (employee must provide basic personal tool set).
• Strong work ethic, reliable attendance, initiative, and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Physical capability to lift up to 50 lbs., reach, pull, climb, and perform labor in non-climate-controlled industrial settings.
• Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Assemble, disassemble, and package mechanical components and compressor units for shipment.
• Operate production equipment, shop machinery, surface preparation tools, and material handling equipment (e.g., cranes, saws).
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders to complete tasks.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including tools and equipment.
• Adhere to all safety protocols, wearing required PPE in dynamic shop environments.
• Perform additional shop duties as assigned by leadership.
