Job summary

City of Reedley is hiring an entry-level Water System Utility Worker in the Public Works Department, Water Division. The role involves under supervision performing maintenance and repair tasks on water system facilities and related city infrastructure.

The position requires basic knowledge of tools, physical fitness for outdoor work, and ability to read and follow instructions. Training will cover safety, operation of equipment, and coordination with water department staff.

Qualifications

• Must pass a physical examination prior to employment.
• Valid California driver’s license without restrictions.
• Ability to lift, push or pull 75 lbs; work outdoors in varying weather.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Six months of water utility work preferred; basic hand and power tools familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Perform semi-skilled and skilled duties in installing, repairing and maintaining water system facilities.
• Operate light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment and city tools.
• Assist in maintenance of city wells, hydrants, mains and services as assigned.
• Load, haul and unload materials, and help with street and sidewalk maintenance as needed.
