Job summary

STV is seeking an entry-level Water Resources Engineering Specialist to support drainage improvements, stormwater management, and hydrologic/hydraulic analyses for transportation clients in South Carolina. The role offers hands-on design exposure and development opportunities under licensed engineers.

You will work with project managers, develop plans using MicroStation/ORD, and contribute to modeling, permitting, and reports while growing toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; hydrology/water resources coursework encouraged.
• Foundational understanding of stormwater drainage, hydrology, hydraulics, and design principles.
• Ability to prepare accurate technical calculations and documentation; strong written communication and problem solving.
• Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team and learn DOT/municipal design standards.
• Willingness to travel 15% regionally to project sites and meetings.

Responsibilities

• Assist drainage and stormwater design for roadway, bridge, culvert, and municipal projects.
• Develop drainage plans, profiles, details, and calculations using MicroStation and ORD.
• Support hydrologic/hydraulic modeling and reports for culvert/bridge studies and floodplain analyses.
• Assist with stormwater permitting documentation and NPDES/MS4 compliance.
• Prepare quantities, specifications, and cost estimates; input to scopes and schedules.
• Coordinate drainage designs with roadways, structures, utilities, MOT, and environmental teams.
• Perform design checks and respond to review comments on schedules and budgets.
• Participate in field visits and data collection as needed.
