Job summary

Irvine Ranch Water District is seeking Two (2) Temporary Water Maintenance Technician I in the Field Services Department. The six to twelve month assignment requires hands-on maintenance of potable and recycled water systems, leak response, hydrant work, and data collection.

You will work under general supervision and may participate in standby rotations. Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, at least one year of related experience, a CA driver’s license, and a valid Grade I Water

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
• One year of experience performing water infrastructure/facilities maintenance work.
• Possession of a valid California driver’s license to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Grade I (D1) Water Distribution Operator certificate issued by SWRCB to be maintained throughout employment.
• Certificate of Achievement in operation and maintenance of automatic control valve desired. Must be obtained within one year of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Respond to leaks, evaluate responsibility, locate and troubleshoot leaks in mains and service lines.
• Coordinate maintenance projects with city, county, state agencies and USA agency.
• Inspect, service, repair, and replace hydrants and related water distribution components.
• Read and interpret as-builts, maps, schematics, drawings, diagrams and related technical documentation.
• Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials used.
• Perform pre-trip safety inspections and ensure parts and materials are stocked.
