Job summary

EVWD is seeking an entry-level Utility Maintenance Technician to perform a range of duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution and wastewater systems. You will respond to emergencies, operate various tools and heavy equipment, and help assure system integrity.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent, at least one year of construction experience, and hold a Class C driver’s license along with a Grade I Water Distribution Operator certification.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
• One year of general construction experience.
• Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License, to be maintained throughout employment.
• Possession of a valid Grade I Water Distribution Operator certification, issued by SWRCB, to be maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine to complex duties in construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems, equipment and facilities.
• Inspect, install/construct, maintain, and repair water mains, valves, hydrants, pumps, and appurtenances; test and replace meters as needed.
• Respond to emergencies, evaluate issues, and restore services promptly while following safety protocols.
• Operate and maintain hand and power tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment including backhoes and jetting trucks.
• Maintain logs and records of work performed and materials used.
• Observe all safety rules and regulations relevant to the district.
