Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking an entry-level O&M Tech I to join our water distribution and wastewater collection team. Under supervision, you will learn to operate and maintain meters, valves, pipes, and related equipment, while assisting in repairing and inspecting system components.

As you gain experience, duties expand to more independent tasks, including responding to after-hours emergencies and customer issues. Requires a High School diploma or GED and valid driver's license, CDL a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic math skills required.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and basic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer service duties such as turn-ons and shut-offs and checking for leaks or dead meters; report water use violations; assist customers in resolving water volume, leak, quality, and pressure problems.
• Inspect, locate, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair meters, valves, pipes, and appurtenances; flush water distribution and clean wastewater systems; exercise valves.
• Assist and inspect repair work related to water mains and wastewater collection systems.
• Respond to customer complaints and emergency calls; identify causes with inspection equipment; help mitigate spills, leaks, and damage.
• Operate and maintain vehicles and a range of equipment and tools for maintenance and repair of water systems.
• Observe safety methods and use safety equipment; participate in after-hours emergencies and training.
• Attend safety meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
