Job summary

Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey is seeking an entry-level Underwriter Business Analyst I to support new and renewal accounts, collect data, set up cases, rating, quotes and binders, and issue policies. Under supervision, you will partner with underwriters and internal teams to ensure accurate workflow, monitor funnel activity, prepare ERISA files, and use STEPWISE for pricing data.

This role emphasizes analytical thinking, strong communication, and collaboration across departments

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two (2) years experience in an operational role.
• Strong computer proficiency including Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational product development for Stop Loss, Individual, Jumbo, Public and National Market Lines, ensuring accurate, timely policy service.
• Coordinate underwriters and internal partners to resolve service needs and support workflow execution.
• Identify issues early, collaborate with underwriting partners to resolve them, and escalate when appropriate.
• Interpret data and set up accounts in appropriate systems to ensure accuracy, often working directly with the underwriter.
• Monitor underwriting funnel performance, renewals, quote volume, and communicate drivers behind observed trends.
• Prepare underwriter ERISA files and use STEPWISE to provide pricing data.
