Job summary

BrightView Landscapes is seeking a Climber I to join our tree care team in Chelmsford, MA. The role involves pruning, cabling, bracing, and removals, with work performed at heights and on the ground. You will follow safety protocols, use PPE, and operate chipping and other powered equipment.

Qualifications

• Must have prior climbing experience.
• Ability to follow roping and rigging procedures.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to interpret a variety of written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform mathematical operations using weight, volume, and distance.
• Ability to estimate weight, volume, and distance for arboricultural tasks.
• Effective communication with climbers and the public for safety.
• Able to become certified in EHAP, First-Aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic tree care operations such as pruning and limb removal (ground and up to 60 feet).
• Access a tree safely following company protocols and move in canopy; remove branches without damage or injury.
• Safe operation of powered equipment such as chippers, trucks, and blowers.
• Basic to intermediate chainsaw skills for ground and canopy work.
• Use hand tools: hand saws, pole pruners, pole saws, rakes, and shovels.
• Wear task-specific PPE according to industry standards and company protocols.
• Maintain a safe and organized work zone.
• Implement plans to prevent property damage and personal injury during operations.
• Communicate safety signals with climbers and direct the public around the work area.
