Job summary

Greenville Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) seeks an entry-level Transportation Planner I to support administrative and planning duties. The role involves data gathering for reporting, preparing charts and maps, and assisting with meetings and outreach to partners and the public.

Work includes GIS and presentation materials, coordinating events, and collaborating with city officials and regional agencies. Non-exempt, full-time position in Greenville, NC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, Transportation Planning, Regional and Urban Planning or a closely related field.
• One year or more of related experience.
• Ability to organize time and manage multiple tasks with tight schedules.
• Strong data collection, analysis and reporting skills.
• Experience with GIS and transportation modeling tools (TransCAD).

Responsibilities

• Assist with scheduling meetings and preparing meeting agendas.
• Take notes for MPO meetings and prepare minutes.
• Gather data for federal and state reporting and prepare reports and charts.
• Prepare maps, posters and PowerPoint presentations for meetings.
• Assist with special events and projects hosted by the Greenville MPO.
• Respond to public inquiries and coordinate with local/state/federal partners.
• Collaborate with state/local agencies or private firms involved in planning.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
