Job summary

AMT is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer for our Towson, MD office. The position starts May 2027 after graduation and offers a balance of office and hybrid work.

You will support data collection, analyze existing conditions, and contribute to the design of transportation projects across offices as needed. Ideal candidates hold a BS in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited) and are pursuing Engineering-in-Training (EIT) certification within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

• Data collection and analysis for engineering reports.
• Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, cross-sections, and super-elevation design.
• ABET-accredited BS in Civil Engineering required; EIT Certification or ability to obtain in 6–12 months.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of projects including data collection and evaluation of existing conditions and alternatives.
• Develop roadways: alignments, cross-sections, modeling, and transportation infrastructure plans.
• Collaborate with project managers and team members to ensure quality and timely delivery.

Job description

AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation team of design professionals in our Towson, MD office. Position will start in May 2027 upon graduation.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on challenging projects, develop your career, and seek advancement as a Transportation Engineer. In addition to supporting projects in their assigned office, the candidate may be involved with other AMT offices and project opportunities.

We provide an Excellent Work / Life Balance and an opportunity to work a Hybrid (Combination of Office and Remote) schedule.

• Support a variety of projects which may involve collection of data, existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports
• Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, performing cross-section and super-elevation design, roadway modeling, development of transportation infrastructure plans, computing quantity takeoffs
• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Engineering-in-Training Certification (or ability to obtain in 6-12 months) required
• Prior internship or work experience preferred, experience with Municipal or State/US Department of Transportation projects a plus
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads is preferred
• Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
• Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
• Excellent oral and written communication skills;
