Job summary

AMT is seeking an Entry Level Transportation Engineer for our Columbus, OH office to join a growing transportation design team. Upon graduation in May 2027, you will contribute to challenging projects and have opportunities for advancement while benefitting from a hybrid (office/remote) work schedule.

You will support data collection, alignment design, stormwater and right-of-way plans, and collaborate across disciplines, with potential involvement in projects outside the local office.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Engineering-in-Training Certification (or ability to obtain in 6-12 months) preferred
• Prior internship or work experience preferred; experience with Municipal or State/US DOT projects a plus
• Experience with AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads is preferred
• Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
• Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with teammates

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of projects including data collection, existing condition and alternative analysis for engineering reports
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, design grade control, roadside barriers, curb ramps, roadway modeling and grading/site plans
• Prepare erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management plans, right-of-way plans and related permit drawings

Job description

AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation team of design professionals in our Columbus, OH office upon graduation in May 2027.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of projects which may involve collection of data, existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports
• Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, performing cross section and super-elevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling, grading plans, development of site plans, and providing design support for erosion and sediment control plans
• Stormwater management plans, right-of-way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic related plans.
