Job summary

AMT Engineering in Charleston, WV seeks an Entry Level Transportation Engineer upon graduation in May 2027 to join our Transportation team and contribute to challenging projects while developing your career with advancement opportunities.

We offer a hybrid schedule (office + remote) with a competitive salary and benefits, and potential to work on projects across AMT offices. A BS in Civil Engineering and EIT eligibility are preferred.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Engineering-in-Training Certification preferred or able to obtain in 6–12 months
• Prior internship or work experience preferred; Municipal/State/US DOT projects a plus
• Experience with Autodesk AutoCAD/Civil3D and/or Bentley Microstation/InRoads or Open Roads preferred
• Knowledge of civil engineering design and construction surveying concepts preferred
• Experience with MS Office products including Word and Excel
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; must communicate effectively

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of projects including data collection, condition analysis, and evaluation for engineering reports
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, cross sections, super-elevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling, grading plans, and site plans
• Provide design support for erosion and sediment control plans, stormwater management, ROW plans, utility relocation, permit drawings, and traffic-related plans

AMT is growing and is seeking a highly motivated Entry Level Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation team of design professionals in our Charleston, WV office upon graduation in May 2027.

In addition to supporting projects in their assigned office, the candidate may be involved with other AMT offices and project opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of projects which may involve collection of data, existing condition and alternative analysis evaluation for engineering reports
• Development of horizontal and vertical alignments, performing cross section and super-elevation design, roadside barrier design, ADA curb ramp design, roadway modeling, grading plans, development of site plans, and providing design support for erosion and sediment control plans
• Stormwater management plans, right-of-way plans, utility relocation plans, permit application drawings, and traffic related plans.
