Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. seeks a Transmission Engineering I in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to join the Transmission Line Engineering practice. You will contribute to design and planning for major transmission projects and collaborate with senior engineers on complex line work.

Ideal candidates hold an accredited degree and up to 2 years of experience, with familiarity in PLS-CADD and related tools. Travel may be required as projects span nationwide.

Qualifications

• Accredited Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering Degree.
• 0-2 years of experience in the transmission engineering field.
• Preferably, EIT-certified with the ability to become a PE as soon as eligible.
• Experience with Power Line and Structure modeling and PLS-CADD and modules (POLE, TOWER).
• Knowledge in ACI, ASCE Pole manual, AISC Steel manual is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with NESC, industry codes and practices for electric utilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated initiative and leadership.
• Travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of material lists in Excel spreadsheets.
• Develop structure framing details with components for different pole materials.
• Coordinate environmental and licensing processes in transmission line design.
• Site new transmission line and assess real estate, licensing, and environmental constraints.
• Read and interpret project schedules for design, reviews, licensing, and construction.
• Develop plan & profile drawings under supervision of experienced engineers.
• Create complete design packages including work lists and staking tables.
• Perform engineering calculations to assure safety and performance.
• Coordinate equipment delivery and design engineering to meet schedules.
• Check completed designs for adequacy and documentation.
