Job summary

Cornelis Networks is seeking an Entry-Level Thermal Engineer to support design, simulation, and testing of thermal management solutions for our fabrics platforms. You will work closely with senior engineers to evaluate cooling strategies from component to system level, applying CFD concepts and data analysis to validate designs.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, data-driven decision making, and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

• BS in Mechanical Engineering with focus in Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Fluid Dynamics, or Thermal Engineering.
• 0-3 years of experience in thermal engineering (internship, co-op, or academic lab experience qualifies).
• Hands-on experience in a lab environment: familiarity with thermal sensors, data acquisition, and test execution.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD tools (CREO preferred, SolidWorks acceptable).
• Familiarity with basic CFD tools and concepts (Cadence Celsius EC, Siemens Flotherm, or Ansys Icepak is highly desired).
• Understanding of basic cooling methods (conduction, convection, heat sinks, and TIMs).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; eager to learn and work in a cross-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Set up and execute thermal measurements and qualification testing.
• Assist senior engineers in CFD and thermal simulations, including modeling and analysis.
• Support thermal design evaluation of PCBs, heat sinks, and TIMs.
• Analyze thermal test data, summarize findings, and contribute to test reports and guidelines.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing teams to understand design constraints and support product readiness.
