Job summary

Particle Measuring Systems in Niwot, Colorado, is seeking an Associate Test Engineer to join a research and development laboratory. You will gain hands-on exposure to PMS air and liquid particle counting systems and related optics, electronics, and mechanics.

This entry-level role is designed for recent graduates to execute test plans, operate lab equipment, and troubleshoot products under the guidance of senior engineers. Report to the Engineering Laboratory Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• 0–2 years of experience or recent graduate.
• Basic optics/electro‑optics or laser knowledge preferred.
• Familiarity with lab test and measurement equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to work cross-functionally and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Execute test plans and procedures for new product development under senior engineer guidance.
• Perform functional, environmental, calibration, and reliability testing on prototypes.
• Operate lab equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, lasers) to collect data.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions.
• Document results and data analyses in technical reports.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians across projects.
• Rotate across product lines to gain broad PMS engineering exposure.
• Follow safety policies, including laser safety.
