Job summary

Allegheny Health Network seeks a Surgical Technologist to support the operating room team before, during, and after procedures. The role requires hands-on setup, aseptic technique, patient positioning, and precise instrument handling to ensure patient safety.

Minimum education includes a certificate from a college or technical school, with CST/TS-C certification expected within 6 months of hire. Prefer 1–3 years of experience in surgical technology.

Qualifications

• Minimum: One year certificate from a college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferred: 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
• Additional Employment Requirements: CST/TS-C certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assists in setting up the surgical operating suite with instruments and supplies.
• Utilizes proper aseptic techniques and follows standard precautions.
• Assists with preparing, positioning and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to ensure correct patient and site.
• Understands surgeon preference and patient care variables; helps update surgeon preference materials.
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument count.
• Cares for and uses resources to promote cost effectiveness and efficiency for patients.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.
