Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Entry Level Substation Structural Engineer to join our Mountain Civil/Structural Substation Team. The role supports design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in public and private sectors, with locations including Billings, MT; Overland Park, KS; and Denver, CO.

You will assist with site data collection, basic design/inspections, documentation, and adherence to safety and industry standards while developing your professional skills in

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
• Familiarity with design/build concepts.
• Knowledge of structural and civil construction laws and codes.
• Strong communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
• Proficiency with technical writing and common office software.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific design software listed in tools.
• Commitment to safety and company policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist with collecting, compiling, and analyzing data from multiple sources for project development and construction.
• Support basic professional structural engineering work including research and inspections of site conditions.
• Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies.
• Verify site characteristics and assist with ensuring structural soundness from loads and environmental factors.
• Generate documentation using drawings, 2D/3D visuals, and site logs.
• Follow safety guidelines and project procedures.
