Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking an Early Career Substation Assistant Electrical Engineer for our Overland Park, Kansas office.

You will assist with the design and development of utility-scale substations, and contribute to projects in power delivery, renewables, and grid modernization. The role involves basic engineering tasks, data collection, and documentation under supervision, with opportunity to grow in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 0–1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Strong research and analytical thinking are expected.
• General understanding of electrical engineering as applied to design engineering of large capital projects.
• Familiarity with electrical construction laws, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Assist with substation component data collection, specifications, and procurement package development.
• Assist with single line and three-line diagrams, general arrangement, substation layout, and grounding design.
• Contribute to electrical calculations for loads, sizing, voltage drop, and protection.
• Generate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs.
• Ensure safety guidelines and project procedures are followed.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise ethical decision-making and adhere to company policies.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
