Job summary

WSP is seeking a Full-Time Early Career Electrical Engineer (Distribution) for our Overland Park, Kansas office. You will support power delivery design tasks, substation concepts, and distribution engineering under guidance on a variety of public and private projects.

The role emphasizes learning and applying electrical design standards, drafting, and documentation, with travel as needed and a focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Familiarity with discipline-specific design software (CADD, Aspen, CAPE, AutoCAD Electrical).
• Proficient technical writing and documentation skills.
• Strong research and analytical capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist with data collection and analysis for substation components, equipment specs for procurement packages, and regulatory design reviews.
• Support design of single-line and 3-line diagrams, substation layouts, grounding, and lightning protection.
• Assist with sizing, cabling, conduit/trench design, and safety-compliant design strategies.
• Prepare and maintain accurate project documentation using electronic systems and field notes.
• Contribute to electrical calculations for loads, feeder sizing, voltage drop, and power distribution.
• Ensure work adheres to safety guidelines and project procedures.
• Support training tasks and adapt to project-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with team under supervision to meet objectives.
