The GEO Group is seeking a Substance Abuse Counselor to join its GEO Reentry Services team in the United States. You will provide information for class curriculum, facilitate counseling sessions, and help select instructional materials for the substance abuse program.

The role emphasizes maintaining current knowledge in the field, collaborating with other professionals, and completing testing and psychosocial histories for incoming residents.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required; a Bachelor's degree in a social or human services field is preferred.
• Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling within two years of employment is required/preferred.
• Experience in human services functions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide relevant Substance Abuse information for class curriculum.
• Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions.
• Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse.
• Maintain a collegian relationship with other substance abuse professionals, programs, and associations.
• Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required.
• Participate in related training for substance abuse.
