Job summary

The GEO Group is seeking a counselor for its reentry program in California. You will facilitate education, provide individual and group counseling, and help select instructional materials for substance abuse treatment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, AOD certification, and bi-lingual abilities may be required. Strong communication and teamwork are essential to support residents and collaborate with professionals.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• AOD Counselor Certification by an approved agency.
• Offender Mentor Certification Program (OMCP) and AOD Certification may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide relevant substance abuse information for class curriculum.
• Facilitate didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions.
• Select and recommend new instructional materials and programs for use in the substance abuse program.
• Maintain knowledge of new developments in the field of substance abuse.
• Maintain professional relationships with other substance abuse professionals and organizations.
• Complete required testing, assessment, and psychosocial history on incoming residents as required.
• Participate in related training for substance abuse.
