Job summary

IES is a national provider of industrial products and infrastructure services in the electrical, mechanical, and communications contracting sectors. The Communications Technician II leads field crews, coordinates installers, and ensures safety and quality standards while meeting project timelines.

The role involves hands-on installation, testing, documentation, and the ability to read blueprints, interpret specs, and train team members.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum two years of telecommunications or related technical field experience and ability to supervise others.
• Proficiency with listed tools and ability to interpret project documents and blueprints.
• Knowledge of universal communications color codes and driving standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate small groups of installers to complete daily workload safely and on schedule.
• Install outlets, mount face plates, and terminate jacks per labeling standards.
• Build and wire racks, patch panels, and grounding as required; complete IDC connections.
• Perform testing and troubleshoot cables for continuity, opens, shorts, and crosses.
• Identify active voice or data circuits and ensure quality paperwork and change orders are accurate.
• Adhere to company and customer quality and safety standards; train crew as needed.
• Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
