Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Entry Level Structural Engineer (Substation) to contribute to critical infrastructure projects and grow within a collaborative, employee-owned environment.

Chosen candidates will be located in or relocate to Overland Park (KS), Ann Arbor (MI), or Orlando (FL), with hybrid options after 90 days. The role emphasizes design guides, basic calculations, and data-driven analysis to support our teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum: bachelor's degree in engineering with ability to pass onboarding checks (criminal/civil background, drug screen, motor vehicle records).
• Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days, based on manager discretion and assignments.

Responsibilities

• Develops familiarity by reading, understanding and applying design guides, standards, systems, codes and BV policies.
• Contributes to preparation of less complex engineering deliverables such as drawings, reports, specifications, and studies of limited scope.
• Performs routine research and develops recommendations for equipment and/or materials selection.
• Collects, assimilates, and manages data for engineering work.
• Prepares basic engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
• Understands and adheres to budget, schedule, and quality requirements.
• Shares information with others and coordinates with project leadership as directed.
• Focuses on internal clients and supports business development when needed.
• Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes.
