Job summary

Degenkolb Engineers is seeking an Entry-Level Structural Engineer | Designer for U.S. offices including Seattle.

You will contribute to planning, analysis, and design of structural projects under experienced engineers with exposure to client collaborations, site visits, and project delivery. You will gain a strong technical foundation through mentorship, candid feedback, and professional development, progressing toward PE licensure in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in structural engineering strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree with 1–2 years of highly technical structural design experience considered if proficiency equals advanced graduate work.
  • Core proficiency demonstrated through advanced coursework or verified professional project experience in: Advanced steel design, Advanced reinforced concrete design, Advanced structural analysis, Structural dynamics, Earthquake engineering (West Coast).
  • Undergraduate GPA 3.40+; strong graduate coursework performance.
  • Official transcripts may be requested; strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural analysis and design under licensed engineers; meet codes and deliver contract documents.
  • Produce accurate, organized, high-quality work reflecting firm standards; manage assigned work and timelines.
  • Engage in client communications and documentation; participate in meetings and written/conversational communication.
  • Participate in site visits; observe conditions and connect design to construction.
  • Pursue professional growth toward PE licensure through mentorship and assignments.
  • Contribute to project teams, office, and firm success.
