Job summary

City of Waxahachie is seeking an entry-level Maintenance Worker to support street and right-of-way projects, using a variety of tools and light equipment. You will perform routine maintenance tasks and assist with pavement repairs under supervision.

The role requires basic English, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather. Candidates should be able to lift up to 80 pounds and follow safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• One year of general maintenance experience preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to communicate clearly with supervisors and the public.

Responsibilities

• Participate in repairing and maintaining city right-of-way using tools and equipment.
• Assist with repairing or replacing pavement in streets, sidewalks, and rights-of-way.
• Perform mowing, pothole repair, tree maintenance, and drainage work.
• Operate light equipment (mowers, tillers, pickups, chainsaws).
• Maintain and perform minor repairs on vehicles and tools; report major repairs.
• Follow safety procedures and traffic control for work.
• Assist other departments during events.
• Provide labor for clean-up and demolition of condemned buildings.
• Follow supervisor directions on public interaction.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
