Job summary

The City of Lenexa is seeking a Street Maintenance Worker I to maintain street surfaces, curbs, gutters, trails, and perform snow/ice control. This entry-level, semi-skilled position operates under a Street Foreman with a crew of five or fewer and offers on-the-job training toward CDL certification and a structured career track from Level I to III.

At this role you will gain hands-on experience in asphalt and concrete work, equipment operation, and routine inspections, with a stable 40-hour

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or two years' construction-related experience
• Valid Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements
• Work Zone Safety Certification including Flagger (or obtain within 180 days)

Responsibilities

• Asphalt maintenance and paving: milling, crack sealing, base repair, pothole repairs, paving sections of roadways
• Concrete maintenance: removal, patching, leveling and replacement of sidewalks, pads, curbs and gutters
• Snow/ice maintenance: removal on city roadways and parking lots
• Performs a variety of manual labor including asphalt patching, crack sealing, concrete work, lifting and loading
• Operates trucks and heavy equipment (dump trucks, snow removal equipment, rollers, loaders, etc.)
• Performs walk-around inspections and logs
• Operates equipment safely per manufacturer manuals
• Cleans and performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment
• Reports malfunctioning equipment to supervisor
• Responds to snow/ice removal and other emergencies including weekends/holidays
• Drives City or personal vehicle to perform essential functions
