Job summary

The City of Lenexa, Kansas is seeking an entry-level Stormwater Maintenance Worker to maintain storm drains, inlets, native vegetation and water conveyance systems in Lenexa. On-the-job training will be provided and you can earn a CDL through the program.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (or two years in construction/landscape) and a valid Class A CDL with air brake/tanker endorsements, or eligibility to obtain within 180 days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or two years in construction or landscape-related field.
  • Must possess Class A CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements or obtain within 180 days.
  • Must possess Work Zone Safety Certification (Flagger).
  • Complete NIMS IS-100 and IS-700 training within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain storm drainage systems, inlets, vegetation, erosion control, and conveyance infrastructure.
  • Assist in construction and maintenance of stream stabilization and restorations.
  • Perform storm sewer system repair and replacement duties.
  • Operate equipment including dump trucks, tractors, loaders, backhoes, and other saws and hand tools.
  • Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Respond to snow/ice storms and other emergencies, including weekends.
