Job summary

Jobtailor in Rapid City, SD seeks a versatile Automotive Technician to perform preventative maintenance, electrical diagnostics, tire and trailer service, and roadside support. You will follow safety policies, complete work orders, and uphold customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include inspections, certifications, LMS training, and maintaining a clean shop. Possession of a DOT Medical Card and ASE certification is preferred; willingness to learn is required.

Qualifications

• Must have DOT Medical Card and ASE/DOT certifications or can obtain as required.
• Proven ability to perform preventative maintenance and basic electrical diagnostics.
• Strong customer service mindset and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned training programs, evaluations, and e-learning within designated timeframes
• Perform preventative maintenance services, including oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacement
• Grease trucks and trailers
• Perform tire repair, replacement, and related services
• Conduct CSA inspections and emergency roadside service calls
• Perform basic electrical diagnosis and repairs, including lighting, wiring, and 7-way replacements
• Perform minor trailer maintenance and body repairs
• Conduct basic air system repairs, including airline replacement, fittings, glad hands, and splices
• Perform battery testing and replacement
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop and work areas
• Ensure tools, equipment, and service vehicles are clean, functional, and properly maintained
• Properly store parts, tires, and supplies
• Accurately complete work orders, including labor, parts, and customer information
• Ensure total customer satisfaction and uphold company integrity
• Follow company safety policies and procedures
• Complete OSHA Skills Demonstration and required safety training
• Maintain current LMS training requirements
• Provide friendly, professional, and competent customer service
• Report to work as scheduled and on time
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• DOT Medical Card required at Boss Shops
• Ability to obtain ASE, DOT, and other relevant certifications as required
• Successful completion of internal technician training programs
• Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured to drive company vehicles
• Reliable transportation and phone
• Availability to work weekends, holidays, and as needed
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Commitment to friendly, courteous, and prompt customer service
• Ability and willingness to work cooperatively with team members
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
• Ability to work in shop and roadside environments under varying conditions
• Physical attendance at the primary work location is required
