Job summary

Jobtailor in North Platte, NE is seeking an experienced automotive shop technician to perform preventive maintenance, tire services, and emergency road calls. You will conduct DOT inspections and use J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software to diagnose and repair vehicle systems, while completing work orders with labor, parts, and warranty details.

Responsibilities include advanced engine, emissions, drivetrain, air brake, HVAC, electrical, steering, suspension repairs, plus maintaining shop safety

Qualifications

• Air Brake Certification and DOT Medical Card required.
• Section 609 HVAC Certification required for HVAC service.
• ASE certifications preferred.
• Must obtain or maintain ASE, DOT, and other certifications within one year of promotion.

• Perform service calls, including night and on-call assignments.
• Use J-Pro, FleetCross, and OE software to diagnose and repair vehicle systems.
• Complete work orders with labor, parts, and warranty information.
• Perform intermediate to advanced engine, emissions, drivetrain, wheel-end, air brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and HVAC repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the shop, tools, and equipment.
• Ensure tools, jacks, and service vehicles are maintained in safe working condition.
• Complete LMS training and OSHA Skills Demonstrations as required.
• Provide friendly, professional, and competent customer service.
• Follow company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA requirements.
• Assist with other assigned duties.
• Advanced technicians may mentor shop personnel and serve as technical SME.

Requirements

• Air Brake Certification required
• DOT Medical Card required
• Section 609 HVAC certification required for HVAC service
• ASE certifications preferred
• Shop Technician IV must obtain or maintain T2 Diesel Engines, T4 Brakes, T5 Suspension & Steering, T6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, and T7 Heating, Ventilation & A/C certifications or equivalents within one year of promotion
• Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
• Ability to attend and successfully complete HVAC, Electrical, and DOT training
• Ability to obtain required ASE, DOT, and other certifications
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, nights, and on-call schedules as needed
• Reliable transportation and phone
• Ability to communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work cooperatively with team members and deliver excellent customer service
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform repetitive motions throughout the workday
• Ability to work in shop and roadside environments under varying conditions
• Physical attendance at the primary work location is required
