Job summary

Thorlabs, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Semiconductor Wafer Fab Process Engineer in Jessup, MD. You will develop and sustain production processes with SPC, write work instructions, and support experiments to improve fabrication yield.

Applicants should have a BS in Science or Engineering; knowledge of SPC, ISO 9001, and semiconductor fab tools is a plus. This is a US PERSON ITAR-restricted role with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering.
• Entry-level position; semiconductor process experience desirable but not required.
• General knowledge of semiconductor fab tools and processes is a plus.
• Statistical Data Analysis and SPC knowledge are beneficial.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems is beneficial.
• Experience with SQL, Visual Basic, MATLAB, JMP, or Microsoft Office is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Sustaining Engineering: monitor process performance; diagnose excursions; communicate with production staff; understand Labtrax MES.
• Process Development Engineering: develop new processes; improve yield; document work instructions; implement process controls.
• Process equipment ownership: understand equipment; assist maintenance; troubleshoot; write safe operation instructions; set up PM procedures.
• Process area ownership: ensure areas safe; document start-up/shut-down; communicate with management regarding problems.
• Teamwork: participate in engineering discussions and provide updates on projects.
