Job summary

Thorlabs in Jessup, MD is seeking an entry-level engineer to develop and sustain semiconductor wafer fab production processes. The role focuses on SPC of production processes, process documentation, and creating work instructions while driving improvements for yield and device performance.

The candidate will gain exposure to process development, equipment troubleshooting, and cross-functional teamwork within a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree required; entry level; semiconductor experience desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Sustain production processes; monitor process performance and equipment metrics using statistical tools.
• Develop new or existing processes to support new product releases and improve yield.
• Own and troubleshoot process equipment; write work instructions and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Own process area safety and start-up/shutdown procedures; communicate with management on issues.
• Collaborate in cross-area projects and provide periodic updates on production performance.
